Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) Magnetometer

(I) Introduction

Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) magnetometer is built by QUANTUM DESIGN. This apparatus integrates a SQUID detection system, a precision temperature control unit residing in the bore of a high-field superconducting magnet, and a sophisticated computer operating system.
A brief specification of this SQUID magnetometer is:

Maximum Sample Size: 9 mm
Field Uniformity: 0.01% over 4 cm
Temperature Range: 1.9-400 K (800 K with optional oven)
Horizontal & Vertical Sample Rotators

(II) Service Items

(1) measurement of magnetic susceptibility (2 - 400 K and 10 - 55000 Oe)
(2) measurement of magnetic hysteresis loop (5 - 400 K and 10 - 55000 Oe)
(III) Service Charge

 The service charge depends on time, 1000 NTD per hour and the minimum time unit is half an hour.
(IV)Matters needing Attention

(1) Powdered sample has to be sealed in a capsule or a straw.
(2) The largest scale of the sample must be smaller than 5 mm.
(3) Liquid sample will not be accepted.
(4) Users have to clearly describe whether their samples are radioactive, poisonous, easy to oxidize, or any particular property that will contaminate the apparatus.
(5) Users have to clearly specify the name (must be less than 7 characters) and the components of the sample; the range of the temperature and the magnetic field.
